  • VACUUM: How often should I change my vacuum filter?

Most manufacturers recommend you change your filter on average every 3-6 months. However, it is recommended to change your filter even earlier depending on usage and allergy care.

Vacuum filters are necessary to capture any dirt or debris and ensure that they don’t end up back in your air. They also ensure optimal performance by keeping the debris away from critical mechanical parts assisting in longing the lifespan of your vacuum.

Most newer vacuum models use more than one filter. Please refer to your manufacturer manual for further assistance on locating your filter.

  • VACUUM: How do I know if my brush roller needs to be changed?

A vacuum cleaner's brush roller also called the beater bar assists in cleaning your carpets and depending on your vacuum model, a variety of floors.

The brush roller is usually located under the vacuum cleaner and some in the attachment tool. Usually you can fix a brush roller with a quick cleaning or by oiling it's bearings however once the bristles endure too much wear and tear, it is time to replace it.

If you are using your vacuum on a daily basis you will need to replace the brush roll much more frequently. You can take a look at your brush roll and see how the bristles look. If they look worn out and the bristles look loose it's time to change your brush roller. Monthly care of your brush roller will help to keep you vacuum working properly.

  • VACUUM: How do I know if my belt needs to be replaced?

Vacuum belts connect to the brush roller and assist in collecting debris. On the other side of the belt is usually the drive shaft or motor pulley. After regular usage, the belt will stretch out, lessening the tension on the brush roller. Lesser tension diminishes the brush roller's turn rate and speed. This means more debris left in your carpet and air.

For optimal performance, the belt should be changed out every 3 months. Although the belt might look in great condition, it might be putting a strain on your vacuum if it is loosing grip and causing the pulley stress.

To find the belt part number compatible with your vacuum, please refer to your manufacturer manual.

  • VACUUM: My vacuum doesn't seem to be picking up any dirt, what is the problem?

Always unplug your unit before attempting any adjustments and refer to your manual for proper instructions.

There are several reason for your vacuum's inability to pick up dirt. First check to see if there is a
clog in your hose. You can try to place a quarter through the hose to see if there is a clog. If there is a clog you can use the end of a broom stick to gently push out the clog. Be very careful with this as you do not want to tear your hose. If the problem doesn't seem to be a clog you may need to take a look at your belt and brush roller.

Most brush rollers can be fixed with a good cleaning. If there is too much debris cluttered around the roller and bearings, it will be unable to turn properly. Since the brush roller is connected to the belt, a dirty roller can overstrain the belt causing it to break or burning out the motor. A vacuum belt assist in turning the roller using tensions. Over time, a vacuum belt will stretch out and lose tension.
A vacuum belt should be change every 6-12 months.

The final issue may be a dirty filter. While some vacuums use one filter, more vacuums are starting to use a pre-filter, dust cup filter, and post motor filter especially bagless models. Filters should be changed every 3-6 months. When a vacuum tries to blow air through a dirty filter, only a small amount of air passes through resulting in poor suction.

  • VACUUM: Where can I find my model number?

Vacuum cleaners have a data plate that contains information concerning your unit, including the serial number, model number, and other information. The location of the data plate depends on the unit and manufacturer.

Most upright vacuums have their data plate located on the back of the vacuum, usually behind the hoses and attachments while most canister vacuums have their data plate on the bottom of the unit.

  • VACUUM: It looks like my part but I have a different part number?

Manufacturers sometimes use different part numbers for the same replacement part depending on the year, and brand. Although they are constantly releasing new vacuums, the replacement parts remain the same however the part number is updated.

We update our product descriptions to ensure the most up-to-date information. If you are unsure of compatibility, we suggest you contact the manufacturer. If you need further assistance, please feel free to contact us and we can further assist you with finding the compatible part.

Washable and reusable mop pads are a great investment. They are economically sound and environmentally friendly. However to make your new mop pads last longer, follow a few simple tips to wash them. It is recommended to hand wash your mop pads to last the longest, however if they are machine washable, it is an easier and suitable alternative.

    1. After removing your mop pads from the mop, if your mop pads are machine washable, throw them into the wash with your laundry otherwise, hand wash them.
    2. Once they are finished in the wash, air dry your wet mop pads. Do not put them in the dryer otherwise they will shrink.
    3. After 24 hours or when they are completely dry, reuse your clean mop pads!
  • AIR: How often should I change my air purifier filter?

Air purifiers are essential especially for allergy or asthma sufferers, to clean the air you breathe. Air purifiers use filters to filter out debris and dust particles to reduce the amount of allergens in the air. As the air filter accumulates more debris over time, the air purifier's filtration capacity lessens.

Simply check your filter by opening the air purifier and looking at the filter. Instructions on locating your filter can be found in the original manufacturer's manual. Most manufacturer's recommend changing your filter every 3-6 months for optimal performance. It is recommended for allergy and asthma sufferers as well as those who want cleaner air to change their filter every 30-60 days.

  • AIR: How does the carbon pre-filter function?

A carbon filter acts as the pre-filter. It filtrates larger particles and eliminates odors from the air before reaching the filter.

Carbon has the ability to absorb almost any type of gas and molecules. When a gas reacts with the surface of an activated carbon filter, it is absorbed down and condensed into liquid particles. By using a carbon pre-filter, it longs the life span of your HEPA filter. For optimal performance, it is recommended that you change your carbon filter every 2-4 weeks.

  • COFFEE: What are the advantages of a gold tone filter versus paper filters?

Many coffee enthusiasts have switched from disposable paper coffee filters to washable and reusable gold tone filters. The obvious advantage is longevity. Paper coffee filters are made for one time use while gold tone filters are made to be reused. Over time, using a permanent washable and reusable gold tone filter will safe you money.

Another advantage of using a gold tone coffee filter is flavor enhancement. Coffee's flavor develops from the amount of oil remaining in each cup. Paper coffee filters absorb oils removing the bold flavor coffee drinkers seek. Gold tone coffee filters hold back coffee grounds but allow more oils to flow into each brew, giving it a richer and more intense flavor.

  • COFFEE: How do I clean my gold tone coffee filter?

    • Over a trash can, remove as many grounds as you can.

    • It is recommended to place your gold tone coffee filter in the dishwasher  once a week

Place your gold coffee filter in the dishwasher once a week:

If you do not have a dishwasher, scrub your filter as a substitute:

    • Squirt a small amount of dishwashing liquid
    • Scrub the inside and outside of the gold mesh with the brush.
    • Rinse the filter completely until all the soap residue is gone.
